that is true.
I think a standard barrel can be turned down for the base.
I believe gwp is correct. The main difference between an M1D barrel and a regular M1 barrel, besides the drawing number, is that the M1D barrel is missing the groove for the rear hand guard clip.

Criterion is planning to market there own this year with a better barrel block
if the grove is missing, why wouldn't a standard barrel work? I have no doubt everybody here is smarter than me. I just don't quite understand (USMC, ya know)
