I received an M2 over stamp this week. It is a 5 Mill range receiver. All Inland except SA trigger housing and an early, round bolt(no oil hole) It has SG on left lug, upside down as bolt is installed and a flaming bomb on top side of right bolt lug. Bottom of bomb is strong but gets weaker on flames. You can see only one side of flames. Bottom of bomb is to the right as bolt is installed. Any comments? Email me, garys615@aol.com

TIA.

Sounds like a typical rebuilt carbine. SG used the type 3 bolt about the March/April time frame for the end of their production. The oil hole in the type 3 bolt didn't come about till post war as upgrades.

I am wondering about the Flaming Bomb on the left lug. I have never observed one before and I have been doing this for a while.

My Saginaw 1919a4 has flaming bomb stamps on a few parts (is usually one way to determine that a barrel jacket, top plate, top cover are saginaw as are only maker that used it. (When not cast parts, also Saginaw trademark)

It just means the bolt was inspected and passed by an Ordnance Department inspector.
