I was considering purchasing a nice 1903A3 barreled action. The greenish finish is ok. bore is excellent and it has the original bolt and parts. Look to me like the barrel was cleaned up and polished. But 43 date is still readable. It complete except for stock and stock parts. I wouid like to know the street value of this BA. I know the cost of stock, scope, base and rings will be very expensive. I just want to know if this project is worth going for.

Do you want to know value of an 03-A3 or an 03-A4?

The receiver inscription if off to the side so I know it is an original 1903A4 BA. I just want to know a ball park value so I can make a fair offer.

Most polished barrels have the last (about) an inch and a fourth where the front sight would have been bobbed off. If that's been done forget the barrel - you can't put it back on. You will need a new one.

If the barrel is intact and can be refinished you should offer about $800 if not just for the receiver I would think $500-700 starting offer which could go up if the seller realizes what he has.

These are SWAGs I am only offering my uneducated opinion since no one more knowledgeable has chimed in.

A couple of years ago CMP auctioned about 50 or 60 A4 receivers and barreled receivers. Following are some typical results of closed auctions. A real a4 bolt will be worth about $500.

A sporterized A4 without mounts and scope with correct bolt and surprisingly an uncut barrel sold on gunbroker recently for $1325. Then well add up the rest of original parts you'll need and you'd probably save money buying a complete one.

I think you are correct about buying a real one in the first place. Now to find an honest real one!!! That is probably very hard to do.

Surprisingly they sell often on gunbroker. Keep looking but remember like anything else the prices do go up as time goes on.
