Picked op an 03 at a gun show, with an interesting stock- rather dinged up, one bolt, script 1909 cartouche(letters unreadable) and 3 Ps on the wrist: deep and faint is a circled script "P".deeply struck second"P"block, no serif. The third "P" is below them, 1/2 inch tall with serif, and no color, unlike most I've seen. No circle either.....There is also a "P" just like it, forward of the front housing screw.....Anybody seen this before? Know how it got there? The rifle was rebarrelled in 1920 or so,by the 9/19 barrel, and J6 bolt. Stock has also had a small crack at the wrist, and on the high hump handguard, repaired with a brass pin. Thanks in advance.
