View Full Version : Stock cut-out for Warner-swasey mount
Does anyone have a picture of or provide guidance on making the relief cut for a 1903 stock so I can mount a W-S bracket? Besides the low resolution B&W photos in Brophy, I've never seen what the cut looks like or how it was originally done.
PhillipM has a pic of that cutout. If he doesn't reply to your posting, send him a message.
It is basically just a parallel square on the left side of the stock for the base to fit in. If you need to make a stock fit one, just cut it out where needed.

Rick B has a ton of knowledge on that cut too.
I had one some time back and compared it to Brophys, I guess I thought there was ample information in the picture to duplicate it if needed. The cut was pretty simple, a round router cut done roughly just like the picture. Had a JFC stamp.

If you are lucky enough to have a base, bear in mind those screws have a bastard thread.

I'm out of town for the moment. I'll post a pic when I return
Had to Google "bastard thread." Always learning something here at CSP.

How can it be a Bastard thread if I properly "married-up" my base the the receiver? Sorry, couldn't resist.
But seriously.... threads are 8-32, identical to a M1905 bayonet grip screw.
