WTK what is this Heatshield Winchester 1200?

What is this heatshield? It seems to be too high of quality to be a repop, but maybe I'm wrong. I see no markings on it, but it does have a ridge at the end where the barrel goes, so it doesn't extend. So I thought it might be a 1200. But all the 1200 one's I've seen have markings on them.

What do you guys think?

It has some characteristics of an Ithaca. Without the hole in the back of the lug, it's likely post WW2.

Thanks Tom, I sure have looked at this thing and been puzzled by it.

So you think it's for a ithaca and not a 1200?

Yeah, I'm scratching my head over this one too. The adaptors for the Model 1200 usually have an 8 digit number on the left side of the bayonet adaptor. They also have a muzzle shoulder which this one looks like it has. I don't think the Ithaca adaptors have the muzzle shoulder. But the heat shield attachment looks more like Ithaca rather than Winchester.

It looks like a replacement handguard for a Winchester M1200 it has all the characteristics of a 1200 handguard muzzle ring and the casting line on the front edge plus the 1200 has a larger diameter barrel if you notice just behind the bayonet attachment about an inch you will see a slight shoulder to increase the size of the barrel under the adapter the adapter for the 1200 was made by a couple of different contractor's this may be the reason it doesn't have the numbers some have positive numbers meaning they are raised and others had negative numbers meaning they are stamped that's about all I can add hope this helps you
