You will have your choice of repro or original (about 3X difference in price). Most repros are very well done, and few people would be able to tell the difference.

No joy. I'm either searching poorly or they aren't there at this time. I may call Mr. Frasca. He has been super helpful in the past.

I feel your pain. Have been looking for an original for some time now. Unfortunately, when I do find one, it's already been sold.

And I don't think I could tell a reproduction from an original - unless it was glaringly obvious. Just bought an 1888 off of the CMP Forum. A few missing parts, but "fixable". I like the idea of having the accessories in the buttstock compartment - just for the cool factor.

The trapdoors are beautiful rifles!

I have a 1988 Trapdoor. Marked with NY on butt. It is in good shape, but I have no idea what a Weeping Head is. 1891 on butt stock.

The part in question is a small, knurled, thimble shaped, device which threads onto the rear end of the rod-bayonet to hold a cleaning patch.

I suggest you buy the repro . . . and move on! --Jim
