I just got handed down a Colt DA 38. Used to be my Grandfathers pistol. Im trying to figure a value on it. It's blued with a XXXX serial
number on the frame.
According to the Colt serial number site, it comes up as a 1905 Police Positive or a 1908 Police Positive Special & Detective Special.
From the research I've done, there is a Police Positive & Bankers Special, it matches the pics I've run across on the web. The
Detective model from the pics looks to have a "fatter" frame.
It's got different numbers on the butt, release, and frame leading me to believe this has been rebuilt a time or two.
The kicker, stamped in the butt is "W.F. & Co". Wells Fargo & Company.
Can any of you folks put an approximate value on the pistol? Any help appreciated.
