I am new to Trapdoor collecting. Are 1873 carbine rear sights "C" marked. I have seen the Buffington rear sights with a "C". I am asking specifically for a model 1877 carbine.

thanks

No, the 1873 (stepped) sights are not marked "R" or "C", but their graduations are different - the rifle version has 1-2-3-4 on the right side while the carbine has 1-2-3-4-5 (and one more step).

The seldom-seen Model 1877 sight (which is a sort of transition between the 1873 and 1879 models) introduced left side markings, as well as the "R" and "C" stamping.
