Could someone please go through the easiest way to remove the magazine cut off lever from a 1898 Krag rifle. I've previously done a search on this forum and the entire net, even Utube without success. Pictures may help someone like me.
TIA, Steve

Put the switch in the "up" position and locate the spring-loaded detent (looks like the end of a brad nail) in the gap between the cutoff and the receiver. Insert a small, thin flat blade screwdriver into the groove the detent rides in and push the detent up into the cutoff, clearing the edge of the groove, while at the same time pulling the cutoff to the rear and out of the receiver. Hope this helps.

How about replacing the ejector? I think only the side plate needs to be removed and the ejector pin pulled. any tricks or pitfalls other than losing tiny parts on the floor? does the ejector require any fitting?

Jerry Liles That's right, no other tricks, only aligning the pin holes of the ejector and receiver, but that's nothing. Maybe use a small magnet to hold the ejector steady while you're installing the pin. No fitting involved, but check for burrs.

Every now and then you run across one of the tools which I guess were produced at Springfield that were made for this purpose. I will try later to post photos of some of these
