Picked this 6-mill receiver up off GB a few years ago and been setting parts aside for it, it's in 98% original condition. I have a NOS 65-series bolt set aside for it with a Y02 heat lot, the references I have show that the bolt heat lots for 6-mill receivers can be Z4B, Y01 or Y02 but none of the references really nail down which heat lot is the right one. Recently I purchase a NOS 65-series bolt with heat lot Z4B and there lies my delema, which heat lot is the most correct? Yes, I know I can use either one and be correct, but a more knowledgable/advanced collector might by able to nail it down for me, so that's why I'm here. What is the most correct bolt heat lot for my serial number?

(Why do I have a feeling it's going to be Y01 :icon_scratch:)

SA Bolt 6528287-SA Z4B January/1955 to December/1957 6080000 - 6100500

Awesome! The Z4B bolt I have is the better finish match to the receiver, win-win :eusa_dance:

Thanks for the information, where does it come from, 1563621?

. . . . But the lot number, YO2, is listed there for the exact same serial number range!

I think EITHER is then "correct". --Jim

Additional info:
My 60947xx, Type 1 NM, has the YO1 bolt.

IIRC, the Y02 is the most common and generally considered to be 'the' 6 mil bolt, along with limited Y01 and Z4B examples.

I saw a 6,096,XXX recently that had a Y01 bolt. I've seen several other 6.09 millions with Y01's too.

I just looked at a list of 100 6 mil rifles. 43 of the rifles have either Y01 or Y02 bolts. Of these 43 rifles, 39 have Y01 and 4 have Y02.
Of the other 50 or so, the bolts are a mix. I know 100 rifles out of 22,500 is not much of a sample but take it for what it's worth.

6099665 (Z16A), 8-56 barrel has a Y02 bolt
6100499 (Z16A), 8-56 barrel has a Y01 bolt
