SA 476394. Barrel SA dated 4-11. This rifle has been sporterized, nice workmanship but very '20s style. Underside of the chamber has the initials VLS 31. I'll post a pic today. Friend measured the throat and muzzle estimated 8-10,000 rounds fired.35103

That is not a re-worked issue stock; dimensions are wrong. Made for offhand shooting; the flute on comb is strongly cut for the right thumb. Does not have a hole on the left side of the receiver ring.

While in the neighborhood, anything on #400204, Possible USMC? An old amigo of mine smithed for the Corps in the 1950s, said he "found" it on Guam while exploring in the hills. Sights and bolt were missing, stock shattered at the wrist, barrel bent forward of the front sight (he gave me a somewhat bent out of spec upper bad with it).And rust and pits from hell to breakfast. He brouht it home, parkerized it, put on a Sedgeley USMC barrel, Remington bolt, new sights, and a C stock cut for an 03A4. Traded a C.A.I. M1A for it. Curious what the books say.....
