View Full Version : HS barrel marking
Have a HS replacement barrel on a 1917 Remington. Below the HS is a mark that I think is a Ord. Flaming Bomb. There are two circles connected by two straight lines and the upper circle has a w shaped top. Best I can explain it. Anyone concur or am I way off?

I have a HS M1917 replacement barrel bought from through the DCM when they were $1.00 each. It has the "HS" beneath is the ordnance bomb. There are no other marks on the barrel. It is 4-groove and is new.

Does your Ordnance bomb look like the one I described?

No it looks like an ordnance bomb. Maybe yours was stamped with a worn stamp. My stamp is relatively light.

uscm69, I think I know what you're describing. I got this through an image search. Does yours look like the one on this 03?

Mine looks like that, except the barrel has no date. The barrel pictured above is a 1903 or an 03A3 barrel. I understand that M1917 HS replacement barrels were not dated. I also have a new HS M1903 barrel That I bought through the old DCM for $5.30.. I have used HS 4 groove barrels on my M1903 match rifle and it was accurate enough to compete with back in the day all the way to 1000 yards the old Long Range Course B.
