Type I lockbar question

I have what I believe to be an original type I lockbar. Someone made the comment to me that they were all rounded ends like a Type II. I was under the impression that I had seen both square and rounded in the Type I. Which thought is correct? Knowing how and where I found this, I guess I would be surprised the lockbar is repo, but I won't ever say I'm not wrong. :) The short pinion and checkered cap are real, and all match in condition. These little suckers are hard to photograph right, but here I finally captured a good pic vs a type II.

The square end type 1 lock bar is legitimate.
I have seen the square end type 1 on only six original rifles so far.
Four are March '42, one Feb. '42, and one Oct. '42.

I should get mine out an check it. I only have one with lock bar on it.
