Here are Two unused, U.S.M.C. 1907 type slings and One used U.S.M.C. rifle case for the U.S. 1903 Springfield or the M1 Garand. Both of the slings were made by the same saddle maker for the Marines on a West Coast Marine Corps base sometime in the 1920's or 1930's. That's when the Marine Corps still had horses. These slings are always made of saddle leather and so are stronger than normal 1907 slings. They also have a unique pattern of adjustment holes that are only on this type of Marine Corps sling. This type of sling can be seen, along with a scattering of standard 1907 slings, in most group photos of 1920's, 1930's and WWII graduating Marines with their rifles. This type sling is also photographed mounted on 1903 Springfields being used on Guadalcanal. Richard Turner, of Turner Slings, borrowed one of these slings so that he could take measurements of it to assist him in making accurate copies of these U.S.M.C. slings. He needed to measure a new and unissued sling in order to get precise dimentions of the type. Luckily I had one. Richard told me after examining the sling that he thought that it was possibly the finest condition example of this type of sling that he has seen. Since then I obtained the other one. They are identical in their superb, unused condition. So now I've Two of them! But I don't need them, so they're Both up for sale. Both are of course unmarked like these Marine Corps slings always are. The leather keepers are original to these slings. The original keepers on this type of USMC sling are always both sewn and stapled.

The rifle case was bought as surplus by me back in 1981 in Barstow, CA at the Marine Corps Supply Depot there. It was hanging up on a wooden peg behind the Marine Supply Sergeant I was doing business with. I was in the Army back then. He gave me a price for it and I told him I'd take it. That's how they used to dispose of the surplus stuff back then. I wonder if they still do that? Anyway, I guess that stuff is found hidden away in some of the warehouses on the base from time to time. When it is, it's disposed of to make more room for the modern stuff.
It's a great rifle case that has powder smudges inside on the padding, but that can be cleaned up with a hand washing of soap and water but everything is intact, solid and built really well. I've been told by Richard Turner that it was used by a Marine rifle team way long ago.

I'm selling all three items together for $550.00
Postal Money Order only please.
Shipping will be extra and I'm guessing that $15.00 will do. If its more, I'll cover it.

The rifle is Not part of the sale.

Thanks, Fred
