Heya All, been a long time lurker and have decided to come out of the shadows and introduce myself. I've had this Springfield for about 2 years. I enjoy shooting it. Here's some pics of the old warhorse.

I can't take credit for the stock conversion. That's how I bought it. It does pull up nicely to my shoulder.

Given the condition of what is left, The IDIOT who "sportyized" it should rot in hell! The rifle would have been worth a LOT of money if he hadn't touched it!

Got to go a little easy on those guys John, that can be said for a lot of guns. I remember when such trap doors would sit in gun shops for ever, it seemed, for 5 bucks! You remember Joe, I'm sure, he sportered every thing he got his hands on! Back then the supply was "endless" and prices were cheap!

In 1984 I bought a brand new Apple IIe computer. It had all the bells and whistles: special "enhanced" model, 128 KB of RAM, dual 5-1/2 inch floppy drives, color monitor with an electronic tilt screen! It was in perfect condition when, in the 1990s, I gave it to my sister who to this day still doesn't use a computer, along with all of the software, manuals, and a nice little Epsom dot-matrix printer. It's probably still be sitting in her basement. Maybe 50 or 75 years from now someone will come across it, all chewed up and full of old mouse nests, and curse me as an IDIOT for allowing this "priceless" piece of American history to be ruined.

The difference between "worthless" and "priceless" is often just a function of time. :icon_rolleyes:
