Model 1907 Sling - is it USGI issue?

I recently got around to cleaning and preserving some model 1907 slings that I had accumulated over the years. A 'Hoyt 1918' and 'Boyt -42-' were obvious, however, one rather nice sling is only marked "H.T.". Is this a U.S. Military sling and from what period?

My guess (and it IS a guess) is that this is also a Hoyt. It would look just dandy on a Krag or your recently refinished 1903 Chuck.

I would have to get it out to be sure, but I don't believe the Rock Island Arsenal produced slings were marked in the same location as most of the contract slings. Rock Island used "piece" workers who got paid for how much they turned out. The H.T. may be the initials of the piece worker that made the sling, or that particular piece of the sling.

Haven't seen any earlier than 1912, but Hoyt was marked as such. I'd have to agree with it being inspector marks, most used 3 initials but a couple only used two. I'll dig some more but used to have a list of all the sling manufacturers. There were quite a few around the WW1 time frame.

I agree. Your mystery sling is a Hoyt. Generally speaking, slings from the WWI era have brass hooks (as your HT does) and from WWII have parkerized steel hooks.

This is a 1918 dated Hoyt sling, and has the inspection initials right below the manufacturer stamping. Where is the manufacturer and date stamp on the Hoyt slings with the inspector's initials in the location shown by the OP?

'Johnny P' - Your very nice Hoyt - 1918 sling has neat 'round' holes.

FWIW - My H.T. marked sling was made with holes 'elongated' to the side.

I've seen Duncan & Sons M1907 slings with the H.T. inspector mark. Duncan often used a round logo stamp on slings which was stamped above the inspector mark.

I have a BAR sling with L.F.S stamped in the short strap near the D ring, the long strap is stamped MRT 10-57 and that's it. No makers mark.
