Back in my trading days I acquired a Rem Rand 1911a1 made in 1943. The gun is mostly correct as near as I can determine. The barrel is S marked which I have been told is not correct for the time but previously on this site I found four references to S marked barrels on the 2nd series guns. The frame, hammer, main spring housing and trigger I believe are correct. The slide was stripped of the extractor, firing pin and spring, and retainer. I purchased all parts from a forum member to complete the gun, except for the extractor which I couldn't find so I used one I had on hand. I am curious as to the approximate value. Thanks in advance.
If you can post photos you may get a more accurate value. From what you stated your pistol may be worth somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500.

While the Springfield barrel might be correct there will always be a question as to whether it is original or not. A High Standard barrel would not be questioned.
Remington Rand did use Colt and Springfield barrels in very early production as High Standard was not up to speed in producing barrels, but it only took High Standard a short time to produce the needed barrels.

3674836749I'm a bit tardy but my excuse is I was out shooting. Here are two pictures of the Rem Rand
I'm seeing a type 2 Remington Rand, my guess of value is $2,000 - $2,500. Lets see what others say.......

Thank you all for your responses. I've been having problems getting shading on my pictures and I'm trying to get my grandson to assist me with a series of pictures showing all the items with proper markings or appropriate parts. He's young and chasing girls before leaving for college in a couple of weeks. For some reason I'm not his priority.
