After reading about using chunks of pipe to install the op rod guide on an M-14 barrel, I dug through the scrap pile at my shop today and came up with a hundred year old piece of thick walled brass steam pipe. I haven't used it yet. Chopped off 16 inches of pipe which measures .825 ID. Seeing the area of the barrel that the guide slides over is about .810, this should work for the limited number of guides I do. Another cool thing is the pipe was made right here in CT in Waterbury which was named the brass city for a reason.
