For Sale - Historically significant rifle for an ‘03 Springfield collector. Originally manufactured as an 03/05 rifle and altered to 1906 configuration, rifle number 201982 shows how the ‘03 rifle evolved from rod bayonet configuration to 30.06 configuration. The barrel is dated 05 only, no month. The GRG marked stock maintains the original straight line on the left and right angle on the right that was altered in 1910. In addition, the stock was originally manufactured for a rod bayonet rifle and has the square plug in the forend as shown in the attached picture. The windage adjustment screw is the early small variety. The bolt handle is straight. The safety lock and cut-off have the correct serifs on the letters. The rifle saw long service, probably in the navy. It has period applied rack numbers on both sides of the buttstock that may indicate service on the battleships North Carolina and Idaho. The buttplate is of the later checkered style is of the later checkered style and was probably replaced while in service. There are no rebuild stamps anywhere on the rifle. See the pictures below. I can take additional pictures of features if you are seriously interested.

Price: $1650.

I will also list the rifle on the CMP forum. So, if you want it or if you have questions send an email to rick.tubb@verizon.net. In the event of multiple offers to purchase the time that I receive an email will control who gets it.

Sure. It's GRG which is kind of an uncommon one. I'll take a picture and post it when I get home.
