Soooooo...
what's with this tread, was there something inappropriate here that got removed?
If there is any information or pictures of the original m40, I love love to see them.
if not, then you might as well just delete this tread.

The original M40 wasn't "accurized" at all, except maybe what the USMC armorers did on their own account. It was just a varmint barreled M700 with an ADL style stock that had a BDL cut out (Monte Carlo cheek piece, without checkering, and a hand-rubbed oil finish).
If I recall correctly, they were advertised as "M700 Varmint Special".
They were "factory bedded", another way of Remington saying they didn't bed them, but simply fitted the stock as much as possible.
I have that one long saved on my computer. Very informative and even though it is in black and white it has some good pictures.
