Arrived packed in cosmoline. I've check muzzle with pin gauges and it looks good. I cleaned Knoxx off and found plenty of stamps. I'm looking through Skinnertons book now trying to ID it. So far no luck. I've attached pics if someone can help me while I'm researching I'd appreciate it. I assumed it would be South African but not from what I am seeing.

I think it's Ishapore post 1950

Yep Ishy post independence proof mark with the corresponding India post independence owner/issue mark. So far so good. I'll clean it all up tomorrow and see if the bore looks new. Looks like SARCO found some No 1 ishy barrels somewhere.

Definitely India. Pic two shows the Ashoka and further on it has the Small Arms Inspectorate marking. The SA with a broad arrow capping an I. Aside from the rest, those two marks seal the deal.

Yep those are the marks I felt I.D.ed it. I've never owned any post independence Ishy stuff. The post war acceptance stamp I had to look up. The two number 1s I have that needs barrels are a 1938 Brit and a 1915 Lithgow. Both have been rearsenaled before so I don't care, I just didn't want a South African U marked barrel. Too many timing issues.
