Just picked up a very nice Remington 1903 receiver serial #3359710. I would like to put it together as correct as possible. I have a 9-42 Remington 1903 barrel, is this a month or two too early? Where in the transition from 1903 to 1903A3 does this serial fall as to possible parts combinations? Any help on what dates and parts need is appreciated.

Earlyish. Remington started making '03's in September of 1941 at S/N 3,000,000.

The first documented M1903A3s were in the 3,320,000 range; both M1903s and M1903A3s were manufactured until early 1943; The highest Rem. 1903 s/n was in the 3,380,000 range - but anything over the 3,360,000 range for a M1903 is pretty uncommon. As my friend John Beard says, anything higher was "floor sweepings".

More likely, your receiver would have had a 12-42 RA barrel.
