Two questions for you experts.

1. Did Remington make straight handled bolts for their M1903s AND if they did, when did they transition to bent handled bolts?

2. Did Remington blue or parkerize their 03 bolts?

No straight handled bolts. I think all ORIGINAL Remington ( 03 and A3 ) bolts were blued.

:icon_lol: Thank you for the answers, gentlemen. As strange as it may sound, the question was asked for a man on another forum. Some of the answers he has received to his questions are not technically correct but he has ignored my private post. Hopefully he will visit these forums I recommended and get his answers.

And if he doesn't ... c'est la vie! (and other French sayings)

Have to ask what the two types are. Also what striker rod is correct for an early 1903 Remington barrel date 11/41?

Thanks!

Rumor persist that Remington bad some very early "straight" bolts, but so far, none has ever shown up.

(1) Rust Blue

(2) DuLite Blue

(3) The striker rod should look like a Springfield Armory or Rock Island Arsenal pre-WWI striker rod and have a blue finish.

A Remington straight handle bolt has indeed surfaced. But the bolt was apparently in a 1942 parts transfer from Rock Island Arsenal with reasonable certainty and was not actually made by Remington.
