Is there some secret to attaching the M84 scope with a rubber sun shade and then getting the unit to fit onto the side mount. The receiver and T105 rear sight assembly seem to make it impossible to use the rubber eye piece. This M84 came with the lottery M1C back in 1995. Is there anything you can do with the limited amount of clearance? Thanks

Yeah I've tried it as well. I couldn't get it to work without just taking the rubber eyepiece off. I ended up just finding a M82 for mine.
By the way I would love to see pics of your C. I have one from the 1999 sale, and I love seeing the ones from the 1995 and 1999 auctions. They were the only ones sold until the Greeks rifles came back.
Your mount should slide onto the base from the front. At least mine does. The eyecup ends up close to the elevation knob on the iron sights for my eye relief.

Nf1e, is that a original mount? It looks taller than mine, height wise. Even like the one stop screw for the thumb lever is in a different location.
Like on mine, with a rubber eyepiece it won't clear the receiver. If I remember right, I had to take the eyepiece off to even get it to slide on.

Its been a few years since I tried a m84 on a M1C. But if I remember right, the eyepiece hits the receiver and it won't slide on. But if you take the eyepiece off, it clears the receiver.
Like this is one of mine. It's a m82 and I can't even fit a penny in between the eyepiece and the receiver. There is that little clearance. My mount is just a USGI WWII numbered one. But a M84, the eyepiece diameter is bigger than a m82. So if I remember right, it was hitting the receiver that I circled in yellow. That was the issue.

I think your mount is taller though. Like the height it's raising the scope up, I mean. Putting it side by side with my mount, your mount and rings look like they are raising the scope up and giving it more clearance from the receiver.
I think the OP is trying it with the mount that came with the C, like mine on the bottom, and it just doesn't give it enough clearance.

Sorry for butting in. I did get a current production mount from Griffin and Howe. I assumed it was the same as the old mil spec. Guess 50+ years of making the things has caused a couple of improvements in usability.
Sure is nice to be able to remove the scope and mount , use the iron sights and return the former without losing zero. We even goofed around removing the scope and mount , sticking it in the back pack, fixing bayonets and continue on the range. What a hoot.
Other than getting a heck of a crink in the neck, these are a wonderful weapon.
My C is one of the Greek black animals.
I am a shooter, not a collector by any means.

Oh no you weren't butting in at all. Actually I learned someting off you. I never thought of the fact that there are different height mounts out there. Actually that is sort of interesting if you think about it.
The mount on mine has rings for 1" scope and inserts for the 7/8 M84.

I talked to Dave McClean about this issue and he stated that even though you see pictures of the M1C with M84 in TMs and FMs, it was never really a good fit. In fact, according to Dave, it just doesn't fit with the eye piece. cplnorton your mount is identical to mine.
