Really amazing part is how expensive they've gotten. Saw one of the image 1214 bayonets on Salter's site the other day at $325. Paid $20 for the one I have. My retirement fund keeps getting bigger.

Yep the price just seems to go and go...

I suspect that as international firearm laws become tougher more and more people are turning to collecting bayonets hence the price boom. I’ve got about a dozen bayonets and all are now worth more than I paid for them.

I don't really remember this but Chuck told me in the 70s and 80s if you bought a bayonet many dealers would give you a scabbard for free....Some scabbards today bring a premium. I agree baynonets and assecories may be a much easier item to collect in the new world of government will raise you and knows best.

I found this Wilkinson hooked quillon in 2001. The collector only collected Japanese bayonets and this was found
among a group of Japanese bayonets at a small show in Wisc

Thanks for posting I'm jealous. They are a very cool variation that's hard to find.

No. 4 spikes were sold as tent pegs up here. Even they've gotten pricey. They later stuff didn't have as many made due to what they went on was being phased out.
"...in the 70s and 80s..." Bayonets just came with the scabbard. I think I had to buy 2.

Well the No 4 spike would accelerate as a tent peg. Little over kill but it would work.

Interesting to see the troops from India still using the P1903 bayonet

India kept it in service long pastWW1. Nice picture of colonial soldiers.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I just picked up two of them last month.

That one is still on the bucket list. I don't see it much here.

I hit most of the major shows in the northeast but rarely find anything. Follow the bigger on line auction houses like James Julia, Poulin, Cowans and Rock Island. These two came from the last Rock Island auction.

Makes sense, I've kept an eye on Gunbroker when a few pop up over the last few years. Haven't won any yet though. I haven't seen any at gun shows but know where a few are in private collections....they aren"t for sale but I tried.
