Chuck gave me me 2 0f 4 to sell. He is usually close in price on stuff. He thinks this one is worth $700.00. I don't see it but I listed it. Best bore I've seen in one, looks almost new. The Westinghouse US marked he gave me has a pitted and I mean pitted bore. Figured since I have pics I'd post them for your viewing pleasure. These things make my M1917 look like a carbine.

There are collectable Nagants and this is one of them. The days of the $80.00 Model 91/30 fresh from rebuild are long gone and nice Nagants have gone up in price. Complete unmodified early ones, like this, in such good condition are not common; Remington manufacture adds something. I don't think $700.00 is an unfair for the old girl, not a steal but fair.

Like you I think all Nagants, especially the early long rifles are really "clunky" but they are important historical weapons and saw combat all over the world, and still do today, in the hands of a lot of different folks.

I have one of the model 91's, a Remington dated 1917. It has been through a rebuild but looks nice. I bought it because of the Imperial Russian markings on the receiver and barrel which is the double headed eagle. Bore is a little rough but shootable. Just something I wanted at the time. Bought it about 20 years ago and paid $150 for it. A little high at the time.

Thanks for the comments. Although I like the Remington and Westinghouse Model 1916s, as a shooter it's front heavy and the stocks don't fit me at all. When I shoot 91/30s the stock issue is fixed with a slip on butt pad. The Westinghouse is very nice on the outside and has the Russian acceptance stamp and US markings also. But man did someone shoot a lot of corrosive through it and never clean it properly. It's all numbers matching also. It did not lead the charmed life the Remnington did.
