This is a 2005 book about the 1972 deployment of VA-75 to Vietnam. Caught the ship readying for a Med Cruise, the wives were planning on chasing the ship and suddenly their husbands, the Sunday Punchers of VA-75, were in Linebacker. Very good book about the naval aviation culture on an attack carrier, highly recommend this book. Lots of details about the strikes in support of ARVN troops and the strikes in North Vietnam. Seems like the A-6's were low enough to avoid SAMs but AAA was deadly. At night the Vietnamese fired flares straight up as the planes flew over. The triple a would fire blindly along the axis indicated by the flare trails... The A-6s learned to change course immediately after the second flare. Good stuff ... Lots of sacrifice by those guys...
