A ridiculous price but probably a once in a lifetime find.

$58,000 now with ten days left in the auction. Is the magazine with a lanyard loop correct in that there is a loop built in on the back strap?

I believe so since it is a type 1 used up thru serial #4500. Types 2&3 also had the loop and was issued all the way to #125566. Clawson shows several Colts and other makes with the 2 loops in his books.

I'll admitI was surprised when it went above 70K but the market place speaks. Extra nice example for anyone without a two digit example.....Condition was original but far from mint. I guess we all learn everytime a new "high water" mark gets set. Congratulations to the winner. gordon

Year after year these rare firearms have proven to be blue chip investments. I even know some collectors that have consolidated investment capital and form limited partnerships in order to purchase these rare firearms..

Gordon: I think you meant a 3 (three) digit example.................
