I bulged a 45-70 case half way down while seating the 405gr LFP bullet on top of 60gr of fffg Goex black powder which i loaded using a 36" brass drop tube.
I assume the bulge happened because the bullet was misaligned in the case or the case was misaligned in the shell holder but could this bulge also have occurred due to too much powder in the case? Surely not but I need to ask.
Also what is the best method to remove the bullet? Impact type puller or some other method? Remember this is Goex black powder.
Thanks for all your help.

I have used the impact puller for years. Another way if you are home just take the die out of the press, put the round into the shell holder raise the ram then grip the bullet with pliers and lower the ram. Easiest way and safe. Now you have found out why the powder compression die is recommended. Hope this helps Tom
