Hi Dick
What's the latest cartouche you have seen on the 88 RB rifle?

I did not log that feature, so cannot recall with absolute certainty if I have actually seen/handled anything beyond 1892. My own specimen (527686 - SWP/1891) was acquired quite early on in my collecting adventure - fortunately it was a very nice one with no need to upgrade, so I sort of crossed that model off my list of interest. Not very professional, but true. I'm sure that [SWP/1893] must exist, but likely no later. I'd think that [SWP/1894] might occur on a very few Cadets - sorry do not recall what was on 565118 which I sold over 40 years ago.
On the subject of late TD cartouches, I DO have one (368714) of the 1800 Cadets converted in 1895, whose stock was reworked from a rifle with a neatly done walnut plug in the old rod-keeper mortise. Its' stock is stamped [JSA/1895] which is located below the lock screw, not out on the wrist as is "normal". No trace remains of the former (rifle) cartouche. FWIW, it (properly) lacks swivels, even though the last new ones, which utilized the M1888 guard, had them.
