Dick Hosmer was correct. My patients was finally rewarded when I was able to pick up 2 nice Model 1873 - 1884 cadet bayonets at the Denver Gun Collectors annual display show the week before last.
On top of that, I came home with a Model 1880 triangular bayonet rifle in minty condition although I think it may be one of those that was constructed with left over Springfield armor parts as the cartouche is quite faint and the date cannot be read. The serial number, 156494 does fall within the acceptable range for these rifles.
