Here's one for the experts to critique : https://www.joesalter.com/category/products/U-S-Model-1873-Carbine-in-the-Custer-Range

Looks "real" to me, at least from the pictures, though I share his concern about the sight since the screws, while correct, seem to show a little roughness indicating possible replacement. Other than that - which is hardly a deal-breaker - I'd say it is good to go. Thanks for sharing. It was not on my list - means Salter got it recently, as I monitor him.

Never heard of this site, put it in my favorites. Not that I could afford his prices. I either made some really good investments back in the 80's, 90's, when I purchased my 7-8 Krags or he is out of his mind! What do you think of his prices on Krags?? Most of the other stuff he had for sale I could not comment on, do not follow it. He sure has a large inventory however!

I think his prices on Krags are too high, especially the 92/96. Who cares if it is a two-digit number if it has been overhauled?

Like the NRA answer guy once said, "Unless its No. 1, low serials mean little"!

I hope Fred doesn't see that! :icon_lol:

I remember the early carbines will not have barrel proofs. The pinned front sight is correct?

Base looks OK - from the pictures provided - but blade has clearly been replaced - different color, and pin should be polished in place; that one's been out. I hate to pay that kind of money (yes, he IS high) without actually being able to roll the gun around in my hands and squint from different angles.

The 73 carbine has been sold according to the site. What was the price and the serial number, Ray.
