Any chance Krags were still in use by the army as late as 1927? or were 1903's the only issue rifle?

Yes, Krags were still used for training. There are pictures of Krags being used for training as late as WWII. Krags were used in WW1 for rear echelon troops and guards, and recent, evidence has surfaced that they were used by some frontline soldiers in the trenches. It stands to reason that there may still have been one or two used on a base or ship in some remote corner of the US military!
