-9 @0530! This past summer my bride and I didn't need the A/C in our bedroom only a fan where before the A/C was welcomed. Global warming, not at my house. What is your 20 and temp?

It is strange, with this major cold snap, to not hear the weatherboy/girl use the term "Alberta Clipper". In over 50 years of face-to-face weather briefings and broadcast weather reports, I was accustomed to hearing the term when the cold curtain fell from the North. I have not heard the term used in several years. Regards, Clark

I don't think the liberals want that term used any more. They insist because of global warming that cold fronts, especially those strong enough to have a name simply don't happen any more. They don't want Al Gore to look any dumber than he is.

London, Ontario, Canada. Current temperature is -13C(8.6F) with a wind chill that makes it feel like -26C(-15F). Been feeling sorry for the people in Phoenix and their 15F(-9C) with a high of 22F(-5.6C). They must be freezing. Don't know what they'd do if it ever got cold. snicker.
An "Alberta Clipper" is a gentle but fast wind blamed on the nice people of Alberta. It's actually a low pressure area caused by warm, moist winds from the Pacific Ocean and BC's mountains. Bit colder than the really crappy weather a Colorado Low sends to Ontario. Generally does not go in North Carolina's direction.

Phoenix AZ, 58 F on my patio; doesn't matter what the 'official temp' is at the airport. Sometime today, I guess, I'll have to go shovel some sunshine off my driveway.

From Christmas to New Years in Jersey City, NJ. Really cold ranging from 11 to maybe 24 degrees. The mid-twenties were not so bad. Went jogging, etc. just wearing lots of cloths. But, 11 was just to much. Also to much of a chance falling on the ice, etc. So ... now home! Georgia ... 26 degrees! Tomorrow the high will reach 38 degrees! Positively wonderful weather ... to stay in the house and read! Sincerely. bruce.

You guys have bragging rights. Yup, I remember the winter of 2017. Here in Arizona we may finally get some measurable rain after about 120 dry days. Might get down into the mid sixties for a day or two. I'm excited about it.

The coldest I have ever felt was at about 8 in the morning at the pyramids in Gaza. It seemed like I could feel my core body temp dropping. I have been in -20 f degrees for a week but it could not compare. I always figured it was the dry air.

Last week was really nice. Thursday it rained a little. It got cold that night. Friday it rained some all day. Saturday was really cold. Sunday was sunny and a little cool and breezy. Today it's going to warm up a little. I'll probably do a little yard work on the tree. I've got to pick up a few things at the store and I might get lunch at Wendys on the way back.

That's not good. If it warms up too fast the earth will crack. You should hope it goes back down to about -10 and then slowly creeps up so IA doesn't get the bends.

Freeze/thaw cycles are brutal on city streets. Melt gets into the road bed through cracks and expands at the next freeze cycle.

Some of the local streets are worse then off road in my Jeep. Idiots keep going way too fast and hitting the pot holes, going to be expensive for them and $ for the garage or to replace tires/rims. It seems people are getting stupider every day, going about in shorts and a heavy coat doesn't make sense to me. Local weather people said in our AO up and down temps with snow, verrrry interesting! I have been wearing a black duster for two years and it has proved very versatile. I layer up when it is cold and it is 100% wind and water proof, best investment that I have made in all weather gear.

NOAA has the county and area under a winter storm warning from 2200-1600, 2+"snow and 1/4" ice. Sure glad ASPLUNDH came thru a few weeks ago and cut/trimmed trees. AEP now has a contractor in my AO putting in new poles/lines as the stuff out here is 40-60 years old. Daughter had a concert to go to tomorrow, don't look like she will get out now. I expect our Sheriff will put us under a level three starting in the wee hours. Oh well, one day closer to spring. Ten years ago on Valentines day our area got hit by a blizzard that took out power for awhile...oh joy!

We will all feel for you when the mercury reads 110F next August in Phoenix... I don't really mind cold weather. I have some very warm clothes and I can add layers as needed to stay warm. You, on the other hand, can get stark assed naked and still be too hot. Now that is really sad...
