HI all... you have probably seen this, if not, link below. I am no expert, but seems like a NM gun with scope added? Probably not made by USMC armorers. No Hatcher hole and bright bolt.

Is there any chance this is real?

Isn't worth 10 grand with that high gloss finish on the stock. Be surprised if Unertl marked issue scopes like that either. Suspect it might be a commercial scope. Dunno for sure.
Old Guns look up says S/N 1463429 is 1934 too.

The Scope is real, but the rifle is not. It's not correct for a Unertl Sniper rifle or even a Marine team rifle. Even the NM features don't look right.

To me it looks like someone tried to clone a NM, to make a Unertl Sniper clone out of it.

But the scope is real, They actually did mark the scopes that way.

That's a $5000 scope on an $800 rifle, if that with the holes for the scope mounts now drilled in the receiver and barrel.

I'm still bummed I didn't know what you had when you first posted it, all those years ago. It's the only variation I'm still missing to complete my collection. :(

No that was the first Unertl scope I owned. But my Unertl rifle is pretty salty and this scope was mint. So after looking awhile I found a salty looking scope that matched the condition of my rifle better. And sold this one above.

I think it's on LS6man's Unertl rifle now. But his sniper is mint. So it matches his well

You can find some ood stuff on GB if you know what to look for and have patience. Problem is, you hesitate and it’s one the next day or sells for more than you’re willing to pay. I have a few good finds but interested to learn about other sites/locations?

My best stuff I purchased private sale but things aren’t moving the way they were a few years ago. Getting bored not buying anything new and may shift my collecting interests to some else. I might end up selling a few things to get started.

You have to be very careful of the USMC 1903 Unertl rifles. Even some in the books are not real.

I know of about 20ish real ones, and seeing old serial lists from Big Larry, it does look like there are some more out there, that I don't know who the current owner of is now.

But in all likely hood, I doubt there are not many more than 50 out there that are known of right now.

We do find on average a new one about once a year. But they are pretty rare.

I have one in mint condition from the Quantico Museum with a copy of the federal tax stamp.
