Re: 2016. The future make up of the SC was very much a consideration in 2016. This is demonstrable with both parties. The very reason the demokrats pushed hillary as the heir of the squatter was b/c they were desperate to be able to use the SC as a political tool to advance their social/political agenda. In Trump Repubicans now have a President who will nominate a Conservative Orginalist. This is going to really change the trend of interpreting the COTUS in terms of cultural dynamics, etc. JMHO. As Ace points out, Flake has said he will block any Trump SC nominee, and then there's The Crown Prince. We have to get out the vote.

This is now causing the National Socialists [including "our" own] great consternation to the nth degree. There is now no reason for Ginsburg to stay, her vote will be meaningless just symbolic. Things just seem to be getting better and better except for the NSDWP! DACA will now be before the New and Right Thinking Supreme Court...better pack now for the trip back. Chuckey was quite upset during his speech on the Senate floor and more to follow. The Left now expects Roe Vs. Wade to be revisited and returned to the states for consideration.

West Virginia looks to replace a Democrat with a Republican this fall. Manchin already looks like a dead jackass from the local TV.
