Yup the BEST piston engine fighter ever made.

After the war I heard that these were sold for almost nothing because the AF was interested in jets only. Now they are worth over a million.

Seems to me someone would duplicate and produce these for civilian use since they are so popular. Perhaps make a 2 seater version.


The closest things I see to them now are crop duster planes. Very agile and powerful but come with risk.

This looks like a pretty decent replica. It will take a Rolls Merlin engine or else a powerful gas turbine. Made in Idaho!
