Put together a repro XM-21 using a Hi-Lux M40 3-9 scope.
Rifle is mostly SA with Bula receiver with SA USGI heel welded on by James River.
Works for me. Plenty of CMP USGI parts on this one.

I have no idea. I just like to shoot these animals.

Waiting for a NF ATACR 5-25x56 F1 .250 MOA for an M14 precision project. Supposed to be here on Monday.

are you noticing any elevation changes with that mount (not having a cam to hold it down)? or is the mounting point for the bases pinned?

The mount is staked on the front hinge area and very stable.

Heel stamp.

how do you keep the 1 screw secured.
I had a generation 3 springfield mount and could not get it to stay tight for more then 7 rounds with loctite even.

I put a fiber washer between on my 1st gen ART and it works well,
does not come loose at all, (I crank it down too)

Pretty simple, I clean and de-grease both the bolt and the receiver hole and have used a dozen different single points with " none" coming loose. A problem many have is over torquing the bolt so it's tendency spring back causes trouble.
Also etching the mating surface of the bolt head and mount helps.

Very nice looking rifle! The XM-21 was an outstanding performer - used by Sgt. A. Waldron - who was the top scoring US sniper in Vietnam. He also used a PVS-2 night vision scope to very good effect - something the M14 could easily mount that the M-40/Marine Bolt guns could not, limiting them to daytime actions only. CC

We used the Starlight scopes on our M14s for perimeter guard around the airbase at Chu Lai while I was there. Very effective for the time 1967 and 1968.
