View Full Version : What's going on with CMP and the .45's?
I have yet to see where anybody has received one of the 1911's offered by CMP. Go to the CMP forum and search for 1911's and you get stuff from 2011...
Just curious, I asked here which was the best buy, a IHC Garand or a 1911. The answers were all in favor of the IHC. I ordered one and it is a great shooting Garand. The only 2 things on the rifle that are not correct is the CMP stock and the HRA trigger group.
apparently it is taking some time to contact everyone etc etc etc,
some are just getting them,

IHC,. BTW bring a big premium, when all correct,
much like a winchester
supposedly most of those made where lend leased or given to countries we will never see them returned from
the Shah of Iran supposedly got a bunch,, fat chance of ever seeing those again
This is as up to date as it gets. The CMP forum is not the place for CMP sales policy info.

I suspect this is the most important part of the whole thing.
"Every applicant will be treated as a new customer to CMP.
CMP 1911 is an FFL governed operation and is a separate entity from CMP and has its own record keeping operation with no ties to the existing CMP records."
Not as important as this though.
"Orders must be postmarked NOT PRIOR TO 4 September 2018 and NOT AFTER 4 October 2018."

while what you post is true, it has not much to do with his question,
they are starting to ship (see the link on the CMP forum , last few pages, for guns recently received) and reports so far have been good,
expect it will be a while to get thru the pile,
I would expect the better graded guns to move first. So yeah, early reports should be good.

A number of the International Harvester M1 Rifles were sent to other countries as foreign-aid, but Harry Truman cancelled Lend-Lease almost as soon as WWII ended.

Iran received two groups of M1 Garands in 1963 (66,493 and 99,000). In 1966 Iran received 32 M1Ds. It is said that Iran received a lot of IHC Garands.
Here is a list of countries that received M1s under the Military Assistance Program (MAP):
