Some time ago, I purchased a Garand from a well known competitive shooter in California. In his youth, he was known as one of the better offhand shots in the state. He told me it was a National Match rifle that came with a second barrel and op rod, already fitted and both still wrapped in foil. It appears to be like new, although it's been some time since I examined it carefully. I was wondering if pre fitted and chambered spare parts like mine were offered by the CMP for competitive shooters or whether it's something the previous owner cooked up for himself...

never heard of a prefitted barrel,
would be just as easy to pull the worn barrel, install the new, and ream\headspace, not but a few minutes more to headspace vs 'prefit' (still need to check headspace)

CMP offered plenty of parts, and still do, (loads of them the last time I was in the South Store,, early 2016)

I may be wrong, but it soulds cooked up to me
