Been working on this critter for awhile. Initally all parts including the stock were Chinese.
Only remaining Chinese parts are the barrel and trigger group.
Trigger group has all USGI M1 internals tuned and installed. Bolt is a Bula Defense Systems +6 to get to desired headspace. Op rod is Winchester. Looking at trying out a couple of different optics on her today.

Your friend would have been correct up to the point that Bula entered the market.
My first choice would be Bula Defense Systems. Second LRB. Third Fulton.
Bula and LRB are hammer forged and Fultons are cast, but of very good quality.
I currently have 7 LRBs and 2 dozen plus Bulas and adding all the time.
The only reason for the GWLA on this rifle was as an addition to fill a hole my collection.
I would not chose to do another for sure. They had never made M14 receivers before and weren't around long enough to learn the ropes.
