SOLD Offered for sale is a very nice Irwin Pedersen US M1 Carbine. If you are a serious US military collector you are aware that the IP Carbine is one of the rarest US military weapons of the 20th century. Irwin Pedersen completed no rifles under their contract that passed US Ordinance inspection and only a few thousand receivers and related parts were marked by the company. The IP contract was taken over by Saginaw SG and was successfully completed, and it is not unusual to find rifles with a mix of Saginaw, Irwin Pedersen, and contract supplier parts.
This rifle is in the 1.77 million serial range, and has an unstaked type 2 rear sight (perfect candidate for a flip sight). Parts include several that would be correct for an Irwin Pedersen / Saginaw rifle and are as follows:
Barrel Underwood 11-44, operating rod PI in a circle, recoil plate, PI, bolt parked flat OI in a circle, buttplate is unmarked, front sight IPN, trigger guard is unmarked, flip safety is marked HI, push button mag release is marked WI, handguard is a two rivet narrow groove marked PJ, barrel band is a type 3. There are no import marks.
The rifle currently sits in a potbelly stained birch stock. I also have included a high wood walnut stock marked IR (Irwin), also marked AAB and with a P proof. The stock has had a grenade launcher sight mounted and has a repaired crack. The bore is nice and shiny.
