My wife brings these DVDs home from the library, and the bloodier the better. Usually I sit them out but the latest one was really great, it's set in Texas and the protagonist is the violent and crafty Eli McCullough, whose backstory begins as a captive of the Comanche.

There is a lot of armed action and the plot picks up in 1915. Lots of Krags, in the finale where an armed mob wipes out a classy Mexican-American family, you see one of the Anglos fumbling to get his rounds into the box magazine. One of the supporting characters, Neptune, is a veteran of Philippine service with the 9th Cav. There are a lot of armed Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, they seem to favor the long-barreled Mauser.

You don't have to agree with what is going down to recognize really good screenwriting and authenticity of weapons and tactics.
