Having a ball putting together a couple of IDF sniper repros.
fellow on another forum brought up the idea and I jumped right in.

what scopes did the IDF use?

They used a number of different ones, but the early M14 snipers used a 6x40 Nimrod which is on my JRA/Bula/Winchester build.

They also used Leatherwood ART II 3x9 scopes. The Israeli Military contracted them. I got them with M14 military rifles.
They didn't use your stocks , just standard like the US did.
I also have the US ART II scopes.
The Israeli ART scopes have the contract numbers stamped
on them.

Interesting. Never heard about the ART IIs being used. I will bring that topic up on the collectors forum and see what the reply is. I will be prepared to duck for cover. ART II hasn't even come up in discussions of all the other scopes that were used.
The ART II was pretty much an antique by the time these were in service. Can't imagine it being used with it's fragile base which was prone to having the spring break.

Good Day All,
Here are a few pictures of my "Israeli Defense Force M14" transit case and faux M21 sniper rifle. The case is functionally reminiscent of the British No4(T) but the lid detaches completely and is manufactured out of fiberglass. The handles appear to have been made from slings of Lee Enfield rifles. It is designed to store and transport the rifle with the scope and bipod installed (which I'm missing). The lid is relieved so it does not interfere with the scope. Additionally, there is provision for four M14 magazines in the forward portion of the case and a cleaning rod (via two steel clips) stored in the lid.
The stock and mount are original Israeli and so marked. The scope is a Kahles Zf69 with the correct reticle.

The markings on the transit case (read right to left) translate as:
Box for Sniper Rifle M-14
Catalog Number 2801-0261

Very nice Michael.
Box looks an awfully lot like what I carried my hand saws in as a carpenter 50 years ago. Sure would like a buck for every mile I toted my toolbox in those days.
