And a very fair price, too. That is the final version of the M1870, with "Model" and double-shouldered rod. It's nicer than mine, but not as nice as the earlier version I sold in March. I decided to keep my trials rifle, and the late one, because they showed the most difference in features.
Yes Dick, it is a nice looking rifle and not as nice as the one you sold in March. I spoke to you several times on here about that rifle and checked it out on your picture trail. Thought we had a gentleman's agreement on it once you decided to actually sell it. The M70 I bought off gun broker a few months ago ended up having the wrong stock as it did not have the ski slope shape. Luckily Al Frasca had one so I snatched it up quite fast. So with the stock being incorrect along with the cleaning rod, thumb latch and replacing the sight ladder I'm in the hole on this one.

Carl, I'm VERY sorry if you have any hard feelings. IIRC, we were discussing a price range right around what this one went for.
On a whim, I went to my first gun show as a seller, in over five years. I put out just three guns, none of which I was really interested in selling: an 1869 Cadet and a nice early 1873 - plus the 1870 at $2,000!!
Since it was a small local show, catering to hunters and the "black rifle guys", I thought that was a "safe" price.
It wasn't. Again, I am very sorry.
Where was the show at Dick?

Redding, CA. Used to be run by the Lions, and was once a quality display show - the only one in Northern CA.
That all changed some years ago; it's down to 25% of its' former size. I went more for social reasons to see old friends than to sell guns.
