Does any U.S. company make reversable flip over mattresses?

I may be wrong but I would think that any of them other than a pillow top mattress could be flipped. Problem is most of them are pillow top these days.

That'd be a futon.
Those Nolah things just a big slab of foam? Lotta money for 'em.

I was thinking about conventional mattresses before the pillow tops came about. They still make them. I believe a full memory foam mattress like a Tempurpedic could also be flipped.

I make my living selling furniture which includes mattresses. I am semi old and consider myself a sleep expert. The major mattress makers stopped making mattresses that you can turn years ago. If you want one you will probably have to get it custom made but I see zero advantage in buying one. Most mattresses have a ten your warranty and if your mattress settles more then a inch and a half then its a warranty issue. Most foam mattresses are not tunable. Every foam mattress has a base foam and then comfort foam. The comfort foam is on the top so if you flip it over you loose the comfort of the mattress. I sleep on a Tempur Pedic mattress and the results have changed my life for the better verses a pocket coil spring mattress. I also suggest never buy a mattress until you have laid on it for at least 10 minutes.

A Tempur-pedic mattress is a little pricey, though worth it. There are other "copy cat" mattresses that do the same and cost less. The test for the foam density is the golf ball drop. You should be able to drop a golf ball on the bare mattress and it not bounce. Remember the old Tempur-pedic commercials where a person is standing on one side running in place, jumping, dancing or something and the other side has a glass of wine that is not spilling? Your spouse should be able to get up in the middle of the night w/o waking you. I have a pillow top mattress and when my wife moves it's like a bounce catapult. The last one I priced MANY years ago was $4500 for a king and adjustable models were double that (and heavy). Looks like they have come up some since then. The only complaint I've heard about these is since you sink into the foam they can get a little hot. The remedy (I've heard) is to use a plastic fitted sheet under the cloth sheets--it prevents some of the body transfer heat.

BTW, to further complicate things, Tempur-pedic has come out with cheaper mattresses (the Cloud) that doesn't have the foam density and may not pass the wine test. They are more like a conventional mattress.

Tempur-Pedic is pricey but they no longer sleep warm. My wife and I use the split king concept which in hindsight I wouldn't do again. We did that so we could adjust the sleeping position independently. We both have sleep apena, I have acid reflux and both of us can get fluid built up in our legs. Sleeping with my head a few degrees raised has stopped the acid reflux attacks from happening in the night and helps with the sleep apena. The down side is I get stuck in the crack between the mattresses. As I mention before you must try them for awhile. A year ago we picked out our mattresses and my wife and I got exactly the same ones. However she would always say mine was softer so I traded her. I sleep perfectly sound on mine and wake up refreshed. She didn't so we bought her a softer version. Last night was the first time in 38 years of sleeping with this woman that she slept for 10 hours with out waking up because she hurt.

In 2015 when I needed a new mattress I went to a used furniture/estate sale store I have been going to for years, found a practically new twin size, firm-with a cover-still not sure of the brand. No burns or stains, no bedbugs. $21.70 out the door.

We've had a sleep number bed for 15 years...pump replaced twice under warranty, never another problem. Depending on what exercise I've done in the day, how spre I am, easy to harden lr soften the bed. That plus Aleve makes the next day better.

Any mattress is better then a bedroll on the cold ground.
