Dang, I hadn't even heard that and I work at the shipyard where she's to be built....

And you know this how? The USS Gerald Ford is CVN-78 was delivered to the U.S. Navy in May 2017, and is still still not operational. The second Ford class carrier will be CVN-79 the new JFK, and CVN-80 will be the new Enterprise. CVN-81 will probably not be built, but if it is it won't be for decades and although Doris Miller has been mentioned, it is more likely to be named after a President... Barrack Obama is on the list.

Um, who names their male kid Doris? Just curious.
"...still not operational..." A nuke carrier is a very big boat. They launch the hull then finish the thing's innards. More about man hours of employment during peace time than anything else too.

Naming it after a real hero-who was later KIA ? What a quant notion ? !
Who names their son "Doris" ? In the Civil War there was a Confederate general, Beverly Robertson.
