View Full Version : WTS...Military rifle collection..M1882 Remington-Lee Army Trials rifle
I am going to sell most of my military rifle collection. I have some very nice M1903's, Krags, and Trapdoors. I will post them on this forum before listing on GUN BROKER. The next rifle that I have for sale is a M1882 Remington-Lee bolt action Army Trials rifle in 45-70 caliber. It is one of only 500 rifles ordered by the Army for test and evaluation. I'm not sure of the results of the tests, but the Navy adapted an improved version, the M1885 Remington - Lee Navy. This rifle has most of the finish on the metal parts although the case colors have faded somewhat on the receiver. The stock appears to have been sanded with some type of finish applied. The bore is very nice and shiny with strong rifling. Comes with the bayonet and scabbard as shown. The bayonet appears to be the standard bayonet as issued with the 45-70 trapdoor, but the scabbard is of a slightly different construction. I can not find where another one has sold to get an idea of the value, but I would like to get $1800.00 plus shipping. If you would like pictures of a detail that my pictures do not show please let me know.4697846979469804698146982

I am trying to make a box long enough to handle this long rifle. I thought about taking it apart, but gave up when I saw how complicated it was to remove the bolt.

Really not complicated. You will see an oblong slot just ahead of the receiver with bolt open. A finger nail or screwdriver can swing the little top piece out. Now you can separate bolt into two pieces, one out to the muzzle end, and the bolt handle toward the butt.
Here is a list of the rifles that I intend to sell:
1). M1892 Krag correct and thought to be original with 1894 cartouche and the cleaning rod.Has a stock repair at the wrist...$2800.00
2). M1892/96 Krag with SRS listing showing use with the 25TH INF ( Buffalo soldiers ) Bicycle Corps. Has a duffle bag cut/repair...$2000.00
3). M1898 Krag Saddle Ring Carbine which appears to be all original and correct. Serial number is at the upper end of the accepted range....$3500.00
4). M1899 Krag carbine A decent example with the M1901 Carbine sight and hand guard with the hump. Nice bore. Stock cartouche......$1500.00
5). M1898 Krag GP ( Gallery Practice ) 22 caliber rifle, correct and original.....$3200.00
6). M1903 Springfield 1911 rifle all original and correct....probably an early NRA Sales rifle, but does not have the NRA stamp.....$1600.00
7). M1903 RIA low number with all the USMC characteristics including vice marks on the Sedgely USMC barrel, stippled butt plate, Hatcher hole, boned C stock etc......$1500.00
