I've been critical of the slow response since the beginning. You might argue that I'm critical of all things Trump, and whether or not that it is true, I've certainly been critical of the way he is lagging the crisis, hanging behind both the disease and the governors.

"Epic" in this usage means a long story (not in poem form probably), which in this case is truly tragic. The connection of individual leadership decisions to sufferings both great and small among the people will fill pages upon pages. A "great tragedy" means a very large one, not a really cool one.

It's also tragic that some people watch what is going on and chief among their worries is how it could hurt Trump politically. If Citizen Trump has a fever, he'll get his test results in an hour. If he needs a respirator, he'll have one of those too. Citizen Trump will be fine, even as President Trump flinches before the call.

Okay since baseball is on hiatus, here is a fun video of Greg Maddux pranking Kris Bryant. Maddux is a HOF pitcher, one of the best of all time, and Kris Bryant is the 2016 MVP and plays for the Cubs. Maddux is one of my favorite pitchers of all time. Not a strikeout pitcher with a 90 MPH fastball, but incredible control, a lot of movement on his pitches, and an excellent fielder of his position. Not to sound like a fossil here but I found that earlier era of baseball a lot easier to watch. The modern era of heat+movement, launch angles, foul balls, strikeouts and home runs makes for 30 seconds of highlights on SportsCenter but not the game I grew up playing and enjoying. Anyways, the video.

Whatever are we to do? I guess you will be writing one of those epic stories.
Well, actually it's supposed to be poetry. But no matter-
www.urbandictionary.com › define › term=Epic
A word, whose meaningful definition(s)and correct applications are now obscured ... There are too many "epic" examples to count, just go walk onto a college ... Since we are defining words.
I watch a lot of photography channels and Iceland has epic landscapes. If you hike a long way it was an epic journey. If you have some imagination you can picture the Nordic voyages written in some ancient scrawl.
Scrawl: never mind.

Without a doubt, if President Trump cured cancer single-handedly, some of you guys would blame him for causing all those medical researchers to lose their jobs. And for all those medical researchers who were women or minority, you would say that Trump put them out of work on purpose.

It is not the job of the CDC to provide all the diagnostic test kits for our medical services in this country. There was a problem with the first prototype of the COVID 19 test components from the CDC due to faulty components from one of the original contracted suppliers.

The testing capacity of the commercial diagnostic companies in the country such as Lab Corp, Quest, and many others far exceeds the capacity of national and local government health department labs. Lab Corp alone now has the capacity to test 10,000 COVID 19 samples a day and they have stated they will soon be able to process over 100,000 per week.

We are lucky to have a private medical industry in this country. Competition in these industries leads to innovation and the ability think outside the box whether developing testing methods or novel treatments. If you believe in Soviet or Cuban style medicine, go for it. I am grateful that I live in the US with a private medical system from the development and production of medical products to the delivery of medical services.

It is hard to believe in this crisis that there is a shortage of $.75 face masks to protect our health care workers. The shortage has been predicted for years, in 2005 the Bush administration called for the coordination of domestic production and stockpiling of protective gear in preparation for pandemic influenza. In 2006 Congress approved funds to add protective gear to a national strategic stockpile. But about 100,000,000 masks in the stockpile were deployed in 2009 in the fight against the H1N1 flu pandemic and they WERE NEVER REPLACED BY the Obama Administration.

I read this on that left leaning Guardian site...which is one of Togor's sites he references to a lot..

America faces an epic choice...
... in the coming year, and the results will define the country for a generation. These are perilous times. Over the last three years, much of what the Guardian holds dear has been threatened – democracy, civility, truth. This US administration is establishing new norms of behaviour. Anger and cruelty disfigure public discourse and lying is commonplace. Truth is being chased away. But with your help we can continue to put it center stage.

Rampant disinformation, partisan news sources and social media's tsunami of fake news is no basis on which to inform the American public in 2020. The need for a robust, independent press has never been greater, and with your support we can continue to provide fact-based reporting that offers public scrutiny and oversight. Our journalism is free and open for all,
